Podcast Speed and Rewind on an iPhone

Here’s a couple of useful commands that you may not have used yet, when listening to a podcast on your iPhone/iPod Touch.
When the podcast comes to a part that you’d like to fast-forward, just tap on the white box marked 1X, the podcast play speed will speed up 2 fold and you’ll now see a blue box marked 2X, as shown in the screenshot. Tap on it again to change the speed to 1/2x speed and again to return to 1x speed. From podcasts I’ve listened to, I’ve found audio still is understandable, even when it’s playing at twice the speed.
Another useful feature when listening to a podcast, is to ‘REWIND’; simply tap on the semi-circle with two arrow points with ’30’ in the middle. The podcast play will then rewind 30 seconds and play it again. This is particularly useful if you want to make a note of what you’ve heard in the podcast.

iPhone – Select & Copy

Another nice feature that I’ve found on the iPhone is that text can easily be selected and then copied and pasted into another application that takes text. Simply open up the text to be copied, in the example in my screenshot, I wanted to copy some text that I’d recieved in an email, so simply tapping on the text block will create a selection, with a blue dot, top left and bottom right. If you tap on the top left dot you can drag it to where you’d like the selection to start from; then tap on the bottom right dot and drag it to the end selection point. You’ll then be prompted by a pop-up suggesting ‘Copy’. Select ‘Copy’ then open the destination, say a new note. Tap on the new note and a ‘Paste’ will pop-up, tapping on ‘Paste’ will copy across the selected & copied text from the email. It couldn’t be simpler! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Quick delete of iPhone emails

Recently I found a quick way of deleting emails on my iPhone and now use the shortcut all the time now, simply:

1)  in your list of emails, select the email to delete;

2)  tap and swipe your finger tip from the centre towards the right on the email you which to delete;

3)  if your manouvre was successful, the email will have a red ‘Delete’ button pop up;

4)  then just tap on the ‘Delete’ button; simplys as those meerkats say 🙂

This is sure quicker than opening an email that you don’t want to read and then tapping on the dustbin.
