Another very useful app for your GPS equipped iPhone is this ‘RAC Traffic’ app and it’s free from the ‘App Store’. When traffic delays etc are important to you when you’re driving, having this app on your iPhone is just great! 🙂
You simply turn it on and within a few moments, the app locks onto your precise location with your iPhone’s GPS reciever, showing a blue spot (and blinking ring) where you are (as shown in the screenshot), it then recieves traffic information from the RAC.
See ‘RAC Traffic for iPhone – Part 2‘.
CoPilot Traffic Incident – the detail – A quick tap on the incident and you can open the detail of the partiular traffic incident that you’ve been alerted to and investigated; e.g. as shown in the screenshot.
E.g. Contraflow (as a result of road works etc), 5.7 miles ahead etc. Now a nice feature here, is that you can tap on the ‘alternative route’ screen button on the bottom right corner.
CoPilot Traffic Incident – the main indicator
Ok, so I hadn’t planned in advance of subscribing to CoPilot’s ‘Live Traffic’ until I was in the middle of a long journey! Ok, so I had a good strong 3G signal, so swiftly subscribed, from within CoPilot, whilst on route! 🙂
Within a few moments, I was ready to tap on ‘Connect’ via 3G to CoPilot’s traffic servers and to rapidly see where any traffic incidents where on my route; how kool is that! 🙂
As shown in the screenshot, if CoPilot picks up a traffic incident, you’ll get a vocal alert, you’ll also see a route bar down the right hand side that shows where the reported incident is.
CoPilot Info Bar is a very nice feature that I particularly like 🙂 it gives you the facility to quickly customise the ‘Info Bar’. Showing either:
b) Current Road (useful if you need to let someone know where you are);
c) Nearest Town;
d) ETA & Distance;
e) ETA & Time Remaining (my favourite :-));
f) Speed & Distance.
